What's On 2010

Bolddog Lings Freestyle Team
The Bolddog Lings Freestyle Team will amaze the crowds with their extreme motorcycle trick riding.

The nationally acclaimed team has the largest most sophisticated landing ramp in the world which allows riders to jump gaps of over 75 feet and reach heights of over 35 feet in the air, which gives the riders enough "air time" to perform an array of death defying tricks including the famous backwards flip that will have you all sitting on the edge of your seats.

The RAF Falcons Freefall Parachute Team

Always a favorite at the Royal Norfolk Show.  The 9 man team, using square parachutes which have a potential forward speed of 25mph, are steered using toggles.  The parachutists form their trade mark 'non-contact' canopy stack approximately 15 feet above the man below who he then followed to the drop zone.

Against a blue sky there is nothing more wonderful to watch.

The Band of The Royal Logistic Corps

We are delighted to welcome the Band of The Royal Logistic Corps to the Royal Norfolk Show for the first time this year, headed by their Director of Music Major Phil Stredwick.

The Band was formed by the amalgamation of the Bands of The Royal Corps of Transport and The Royal Army Ordnance Corps in 1993.  The Band consists of 35 musicians and are based in Surrey.

The RAF Halton Pipes & Drums

Piping has a firm tradition in the Royal Air force and RAF Halton is the oldest of these voluntary pipe bands and is considered to be the home of piping in the Royal Air Force. Led by Pipe Major Lenny Browne the RAF Halton Pipes & Drums have received some wonderful accolades from the Directors of Music of other Bands they have accompanied at the Royal Norfolk Show over the years and we are delighted to welcome them back again this year.
Hound Display
The following packs will be parading in the Grand Ring this year:

Essex & Sufolk Hounds, North Norfolk Harriers, Dunston Harriers, Waveney Harriers, Trinity Food & South Herts Beagles and the East Anglian Bloodhounds
Double Harness Scurry Driving
Another first for the Royal Norfolk Show in the Grand Ring.  Scurry Driving means two ponies pulling a carriage through pairs of cones at full gallop.  Sporting drivers compete against each other to get the fastest time possible.  This will have you sitting on the edge of your seats!
"Times They Are a Chagin" ~ Machinery display co-ordinated by Normac
You may all have seen huge machines working in fields as you drive past, or indeed on the road, but do you know what they are and what they do on the land to produce the food that arrives on your plates?

Times have changed a great deal over the years in farming and this display will show this process of change, comparing the old with the new and how horse power has overtaken man power.
Art Exhibition
The Art Exhibition is a very popular attraction at the Royal Norfolk Show and the exhibition is the first port of call for many visitors to the Show.   The exhibition has grown from strength to strength.
With over 380 exhibits for sale, it is a unique opportunity to see and buy paintings and sculptures from over 150 local artists all in one large marquee. A free catalogue is available for visitors to the exhibition.

The Sheep Show
The Sheep Show is a fun and educational look at different breeds of sheep with the emphasis on wool. The show is now more popular than ever - appearing at over 40 venues during the year 2000 in front of an estimated audience of 1.6 million people!
The shows are presented by New Zealanders Richard Savory and Stuart Barnes and are fun for all ages. As each of the nine breeds of sheep are introduced to the audience, they learn about its attributes and how wool from the sheep's back becomes a jumper to wear. Meet Nobby the Norfolk Horn, Souse the Southdown and their woolly friends. Don't miss the famous 'Sheep Show Shuffle' and the fascinating live shearing demonstration.
Each show lasts around 30 minutes and several shows are performed during the day from the Sheep Show's own self-contained 40ft stage trailer, complete with sound and lighting - all that is required is an enthusiastic audience.
Farriery Demonstrations
Demonstrations will be given at 1000, 1200 and 1400 each day by Stephen Dell from Somerleyton and Benjamin Perks.
Sheep Shearing - First Drive
An opportunity to see the experts at work. Shearing demonstrations will be given by Paul Seabrook on both days at 1030, 1130, 1230, 1500 and 1600.
